Join David Whyte for A SPRINGTIME PILGRIMAGE: A week in the Hills of Tuscany. From the first evening standing on the threshold of an ancient Etruscan tomb to the closing night's celebration under the stars, the week in Italy is a moveable feast both literally and imaginatively; a true celebration of the senses; a shaping of the mind and the body through walking, seeing, listening and tasting.



David invites you into a circle of friendship in the Hills of Tuscany, taking you deep into the local culture while emboldened by David's own poetry and thought.

Application Dates

Note: unless otherwise specified, all dates listed here are in 2024. 

We do not accept applicants on a first come, first served basis. Participants are chosen based on multiple factors in order to create a diverse group for each tour. Once you submit your application, you will be added to our waitlist while your application is reviewed. All participants accepted to join the tour will be notified by email. We are unable to notify applicants by phone or text.

For applications received before January 31st, we will notify you the week of February 12th if you are accepted to join a tour. For applications received after January 31st, we will notify you within 30 days of receipt of your application if we are able to offer you a spot on the tour. 

If you do not receive notification by email of your acceptance, you will remain on the waitlist in case a spot opens up. If at any time, you wish to withdraw your name from the waitlist, please notify the tour contact by email. 


Payment

By submitting your application, and upon acceptance, you authorize Many Rivers Company to charge your credit card on the dates specified below for the deposit (upon acceptance) and final payment. 


Communication

After submitting the application form, you will receive a message that you are on the waitlist. This means we have received your application and will begin reviewing it. We will notify you by email if you are accepted to join the tour.  

We make every effort to ensure our group emails make it past increasingly vigilant spam filtering; however, this is not always foolproof. Please add [email protected] and [email protected] to your contacts and check your spam or junk folders regularly. If you haven't heard from us in a while, write to Kate directly to make sure you haven't missed any important communication.


  • I am applying to join the tour as an individual.

  • I am applying to join the tour with a friend or family member. If you are applying to join the tour with another person, please include their name(s) in "Name of Traveling Companion."

If you are applying to join the tour with one or more additional applicants, please list their names here. By listing your fellow applicants names, your applications will be considered a single application, in terms of acceptance status, regardless of whether you are paying jointly or separately. 


NOTE: Each applicant will need to complete the application and sign the release form. If you intend to pay for the cost of the tour with a single credit card, the second applicant should select the "Accommodation Preference" option "Couple: Second Registrant ($0.00)" in the Accommodation Preference.  




Cost of the Tour

The cost to join the tour is $6,500 USD per person for a shared room, and $7,450 USD for a private room. This fee covers the cost of accommodation for seven nights, travel within Italy, all breakfasts, and either lunch or dinner each day. Airfare is not included.
Note: if you are provided a private room, you may not necessarily have a private bathroom.

We only accept payment via credit card. Upon acceptance of your application, your credit card will be charged on the following schedule:

If you submit an application after January 31st, 2024, and are accepted to join the tour after February 16th, a deposit of $2500 USD per person will be charged to your credit card upon the day of acceptance. 


If you are applying with another person, both persons will need to complete the application and sign the release form. If you are paying with a single credit card, the second applicant should select the Accommodation Preference "Couple: Second Registrant ($0.00)" 


  • Select this option if you are traveling as an individual, and are not requesting a private room, or if you are traveling with another individual, but are paying separately.

  • Private room requests will be granted as space allows. Please note that even if we can accommodate your request, you may not have a private bathroom.

  • Select this option if you are traveling as a couple/family/friend, requesting to share a room, and using a single credit card for all applicants.

    Note: We will need an application filled out for each person traveling.

  • For couples, family members or friends traveling together, and paying on a single card, select this option for the second applicant.

  • Yes: If I am not accepted to join this walking tour, I am interested in adding my name to the waitlist for a different tour.

  • No: if I am not selected to join this tour, I am not interested in joining a different tour.

All tour participants are required to provide the names of two emergency contacts.



CANCELLATION POLICY

If, after acceptance, you need to withdraw your application prior to March 18th, Many Rivers will retain $500 USD of your deposit. If you withdraw after March 18th, Many Rivers will issue you a refund, minus the full deposit ($2,500 USD per person) only if we are able to fill your spot.

HOLD HARMLESS, RELEASE AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT

1. The undersigned (“I” or “you” or “me”), understands, acknowledges, and agrees to the participation requirements for any and all of the Tours, programs, and/or activities (each, a “Tour” and collectively, “Tours”) in Italy beginning on May 1st, 2024, hosted by or affiliated with David Whyte, d/b/a Many Rivers Company, a sole proprietor, and its owners, officers, members, employees, subsidiaries, affiliates, successors and assigns, and each of those acting under its authority (together, “Many Rivers”). I specifically acknowledge that in addition to any incidental harm to me arising out of first aid, treatment or services rendered to me during my participation in this Tour, the Tour involves social engagement with the possibility of the transmission of communicable diseases, including, but not limited to the novel coronavirus (i.e., COVID-19) and its variants (“COVID”), and that Many Rivers does not have the ability to monitor or control or limit the potential transmission or spread of these types of diseases. I, and on behalf of my successors and heirs expressly assume this risk associated or related to participating in the Tour and further agree to comply with all guidelines and policies established by Many Rivers to manage this risk. By signing this HOLD HARMLESS, RELEASE AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT (“Agreement”), you hereby assume and acknowledge all risk, exposure, and liability associated with your participation before, during, or after the Tour, including illness caused by exposure to Covid which may lead to new or chronic-enhanced illness or death.

2. I hereby RELEASE, WAIVE, DISCHARGE, AND COVENANT NOT TO SUE Many Rivers, its owners, agents or employees (hereinafter referred to as RELEASEES) from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, and causes of action whatsoever arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury, including death that may be sustained by me, WHETHER CAUSED BY THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES, or otherwise, while participating in the Tour.

3. This Agreement integrates and supersedes all prior and contemporaneous agreements, undertakings, covenants, or conditions (including all prior non-competition agreements entered by me and Many Rivers), whether oral or written, express or implied, to the extent they modify, contradict, or conflict with the provisions hereof.

4. Any dispute arising under or related to this Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the state of Washington, without reference to its conflict of law principles. Any such dispute shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts in King County, Washington. You agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction and venue of courts located in King County, Washington for any legal proceeding involving the Tour, regardless of who initiated such legal proceeding.

IN SIGNING THIS AGREEMENT, I ACKNOWLEDGE AND REPRESENT THAT:

A. I have read the foregoing terms of this Agreement, understand it and sign it voluntarily as my own free act and
deed;

B. No oral representations, statements, or inducements, apart from the foregoing written agreement, have been
made;

C. I am at least eighteen (18) years of age and fully competent; and

D. I execute this Agreement for full, adequate and complete consideration fully intending to be bound by same.
